Theism Vs Atheism: My Struggles

• Coming to the topic of theology, recently, my belief in God increased. I feel like I am a Muslim.
• I was feeling existential dread and was having crises of faith.
• So, recently, I had a discussion with ChatGPT and explored the questions of God's existence. Explored the various possibilities about the creation of the Universe.
• Both the explanations of the creation have unanswered questions. I just need to use Occam's Razor and Pascal's Wager maybe, to arrive at the most probable answer.
• I need to accept that there are numerous questions that I might not get the answer to, in my lifetime, or maybe ever.
• So, the possibilities: There is a God, who was never born, will never die. He is the uncreated creator of the Universe. He triggered the Big Bang. And everything that we see is the result of his grand design. This life is a test and if we pass, we will get everlasting happiness.
• Other possibility is that the Universe is a cold indifferent place and life evolved by evolution through natural selection. We know how the process works. The explanation of the initial origin of life is unconvincing. And we don't know how the Universe first came into existence. Or, did it always exist, like God?
• Very difficult to choose between these two.
• We say that everything needs a creator. But who created the creator. To avoid infinite regress, we need to have a stopping point, the uncaused cause, the unmoved mover. God fits the explanation perfectly. Theists say that God does not need a creator, because he is uncreated. He always existed.
• Ok, but why can't we say the same for the Universe. Why can't the Universe have always existed.
• The Big Bang explains using strong evidence that the Universe came into existence. So, the Universe, or at least our 'chunk' of it, is created, not in the sense that some creator created it, but that it tangibly came into existence.
• This supports the theism argument.
• If I accept that an everlasting God exists, then, many of my questions would be answered.
• The main problem I have with religions is the dogma, the rigidity, the claim of having perfect answers to all questions. Even though, we humans cannot have all the answers. Only God can have all the answers.
• Religious people are so arrogant. They look down upon atheists. This pushes people away from God. This is not the right way.
• I feel that I am the right person to handle such discussions, because I am extremely sympathetic to both sides. I don't look down upon people. I know where each side is coming from.

• I hope and I wish that both of us reach the truth about God.
• Once the existence of God is solved for me, I can move on to the next questions, the problem of evil and suffering, etc.
• Those too are very difficult. But, if I am fully 100% convinced about God, then I can take leaps of faith regarding the secondary issues.
• If heaven exists, I would very much like to be there, forever. It would be so great if my wife and I get to live there.
• On a similar note, heaven, by definition, is the best thing that could be. And hell is the worst possible thing.
• To help me in this quest for the Truth, I am planning to listen to The Clear Quran dramatised audiobook, which has background sounds to enhance the translation.
• It could help me a lot in this regard.
